GENERAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES

A large part of my work at Vocationology, Inc. has involved on-going research, development and design of Computerized Job-Person Matching programs. Primarily, these programs have been designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of my original objective, highly data-intensive, job-person matching systems. My research has centered on methods for utilizing work history and testing to determine transferable skills, employability, and earning capacity of individuals considering the differential effects of selected human factors including:  age, education, work experience, injuries, disabilities, tested/rated levels of vocational functioning, transferable skills, and labor market access in relevant labor markets of interest.

In addition to my own research, development, and writings, I have mentored several Distance Learning doctoral dissertations from the field, which have been successfully completed [e.g., Streater, 7/12/87 (MN), Magrowski, 4/13/91 (MO), Mayer, 1995 (FL)], Wells-Moran, 1998, (WA)]. On May 14, 1993, I provided research design and methodological consultation to a student completing an earning capacity prediction validation study incorporating the 24 vocationally significant MVQS worker-trait factors, who was working on a Ph.D. through Walden University in Minneapolis, MN. In November 1996, I began mentoring Jolyn Wells-Moran's Ph.D. doctoral dissertation. Since 1991, to date and continuing, I have been on the Columbia Pacific University list of learned individuals approved to serve as faculty mentors for students in the process of completing advanced graduate-level research.

Since 1977, my Computerized Job-Person Matching Programs and systematic Trait-Factor Analysis methodologies have been made available not only to vocational experts, but also to students at many colleges and universities around the United States. To date, they have been taught to and used by professional educators, students, and public/private practitioners, as well as vocational and economic experts in rehabilitation, evaluation, occupational analysis, job placement, earning capacity and wage loss analysis around the United States.
